About us
TriPoint Church of God has been faithfully serving the community of Alpena Michigan since 1927. What began as a burden on the heart of John Kolar in 1925 formally took place in 1927. First Church of God, Alpena (TriPoint) began in Cottage Prayer Meetings and continued to grow. From 1927-1969, this congregation continued to outgrow each facility that they were in. In 1968, the church broke ground on a plot of land at the corner of Brooke and Grant Street, which is our present location.

Through life's ups and downs, there has been a faithful core of believers here that have prayed, served and loved this community and continues to seek ways that we can engage with our neighbors and to show them the love of Jesus Christ.

One of the most recognizable ways that we engage with our community began in the 1950's. Every December, we dress in costumes, bring in goats, and a donkey and act out the events that took place around the birth of our Savior. The community is always invited to this event and thousands have come to see our "Living Nativity."

Meet our Pastors:
Pastors Mike and Emily moved to Alpena in October of 2014. They have two active boys and both are very involved in our community.
Pastor Mike is a graduate of Mid America Christian University and has a Bachelors of Science in Christian Ministries. Pastor Mike is currently working towards his Masters degree in Christian Ministries at the School of Theology and Christian Ministries at Anderson University. He enjoys hunting, fishing and exploring this beautiful region of Michigan with his family.
Pastor Emily is currently enrolled at Indiana Wesleyan University and is working towards a degree in Communications. She is an avid reader, and a diehard Cubs fan! and serves as a Career Navigator with Michigan Works.
Pastor Mike and Pastor Emily are active members of the Alpena community and serves in multiple capacities.
